Speaking of Teacher Collaboration

I came across this on Twitter (http://twitter.com/home) today and thought that it deserved special mention:

An interesting teaching collaborative site with some really good lesson plans. Of course posted by Joyce Valenza, one of my librarian heroines.

I'm not sure if Twitter is one of the "23 things" but I have found it a wonderful source for discovering fantastic resources. I follow some avid Twitter users who post really interesting stuff mostly related to education and/or technology. You can check out me and the folks that I am following here if you are interested: http://twitter.com/julielibrarian

Although I have to confess I have been a Twitter slacker lately. Some people seem to post hourly, I usually only "Tweet" when I find something really interesting that I think would be helpful to other teacher/librarians too.

Some people use it to post updates on their day, sort of like the Facebook status updates, which I suppose could be interesting if you used Twitter to connect with friends and family....maybe.

  1. We've not included Twitter, but have talked about doing "Another 23 Things" for people who wanted more after completing the first round, and including Twitter in that collection.

    Thanks for sharing that resource.

  2. Thanks for the twitter links. I've been exploring Twitter as an unofficial thing. I found some interesting folks to follow during my rss explorations. So now I have a couple different ways to drown in info.
My iPhone has aps for bloglines and twitter.

  3. I've poked around in Twitter a tiny bit. Here's my question: Can I only subscribe to someone's tweets through text messages on my phone? I don't pay for text messaging because...I am cheap. However, there are some posters I'd like to follow on Twitter.

  4. I also have been thinking about getting into twittering. The idea of joining too many feeds and twitters should be discussed with students (and us). My iPhone already collects and notifies me of my emails. I cannot imagine it buzzing at me for every Facebook update, RSS feed and twitter (tweet). How much information can we possibly have thrown at us per hour before we just start ignoring it?

With such a vast amount of information that is available via Web 2.0, this is a discussion that needs to take place.
